Nancy
Powell, a self-taught artist, was born in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Nancy moved to beautiful Victoria, BC and
started Blacksmithing at the Sooke Regional Museum
in 1991. Enchanted by the noise, smell, dirt and sparks, she forged a career for herself.

Using a combination of modern and old tools and her own designs, Nancy creates her art free hand, without the use of jigs or forms, ensuring that each piece is original and a one of a kind work of art. She creates a variety
of original pieces, from kitchen and bathroom fixtures
to exquisite life-sized mermaids and giant spider
lamps.
Since 1999, Nancy has worked her forge from May through October in "the most beautiful Blacksmith's shop in the world", located on the property of the Sooke Harbour House.
